No wind in Valencia

So this is my first barge blog. I kind of didn't want to be the first writing one, since I'm not writing from a barge, but Lena and I just observed how weird it is that all the wind in the universe seems to blow in our street while the America's Cup in Valencia is being postponed one more time.

Weird, isn't it? So much money in TV rights at stake and they chose a place in which the wind is far from being a constant feature. From one hand it may well be the last time the Med is chosen for the Cup, on the other hand it's sooo nice to see that at least one of the major sport events on earth hasn't become totally domesticated. We ski on plastic snow, ride on plastic grass and sit on plastic wood, yet we still need real wind to sail.

So what we do is hearing New Zealand radio on the internet (http://www.radiosport.co.nz/) and get our ears used to that fantastic vowels people from the lands down under use. No wind and no racing today, yet we have a sailing mystery with a desert boat found somewhere in the Pacific. It's the pirates, maybe. Or maybe we have a new Bermuda Triangle. What we definitely have is three missing people, so let's hope they are all right.

Anyway, with al my love for languages I must admit that I would listen to New Zealand's radios even if they did not talk about sailing at all. The sound is absolutely crazy. I just wish they sometimes breathed in between words and took a bit longer than one millionth of a second to say 10 full phrases. I suspect it'll take me a full month before I can "break the code" and become a professional spy about New Zealand sports matters.
